Legendary artist Paul Stankard inspired a whole
generation of glassworkers when he began to draw inspiration
for his work directly from nature. By conveying a love of wildflowers
in his work, Stankard strikes a chord in all of us. This pioneer
of the contemporary glass movement is renowned for the facsinating
personal mythology included in his paperweights. Stankard records
the anatomy of plants with uncanny accuracy.

Honeycomb Bouquet with Figures
Paul Stankard weight, containing two sections of honeycomb, one
above the other, which are surrounded by light blue flowers,
buds, orange berries, variegated green leaves, tendrils, and
green moss. An earth "spirit" clings to each section
of honeycomb; one on the top and one on the underside. Also includes
an ant, word canes, and a signature cane bud. Signed/dated 2002.
